Laura chose for her studies The Swedish Institute in Manhattan. It is the oldest massage training institute in the United States and has been continually training massage therapists since 1916.
To gain experience Laura was hired as staff/employee massage therapist at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in Manhattan.
Then Laura entered into further study at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and is one of a very select number of Certified Medical Massage Therapist for Cancer patients and also mastectomy post-operative massage.
Laura further gained experience in cancer patient post operative massage at Beth Israel Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital.
Laura is the first massage therapist to be at the Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, Long Island, where she provides massage for orthopedic patients only.
Through the auspices of Sloan Kettering Hospital, Laura was recently honored with a certification by The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for Massage Therapy in the Hospital Setting.
Laura attended intensive classroom studies with a select group of practitioners to learn how massage can speed the recovery of patients in intensive care and other traumatic circumstances at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. This professional study practicum was invitation only and is a great honor for Laura.
Along with the classroom study was hospital service with internationally known Doctors whose patients benefited from the alleviation of pain and stress-related symptoms while undergoing medical treatment for severe illness. This is ground-breaking work for the massage therapy profession.
Laura is Certified by the AAPTE as a Nationally Accredited Certified Personal Trainer- Exercise Fitness Specialist.
